Community. Local skills. Local Food. Adapting in place. But self-reliant, no. We are in this together. In these unsure times of climate change, peak oil, and economic instability, the one thing we do have is each other. To quote Toby Hemenway, "When we create a web of interdependencies, we grow richer, stronger, safer, and wiser." Permaculture is a means to develop life skills and enhancements for sustainable living and beyond. "To practice permaculture is to actively create a positi …

For many years I had regular Friday night social gatherings of close friends. We'd often vent our frustrations at the stupidity of the system around us that glorified superficial choices and failed to support people. Sometimes we just hung out, other times we'd work on a project together. We'd show up at a friends house with five vehicles for a one-day household move that ended with pizza and laughter instead of frustration and stubbed toes. We had movie nights and made mead and hosted dinne …

This is a group for anyone still fondly remembering our dollhouses when we were children and we will love every little miniature piece of furniture or tiny replica of something we had in our homes when we were little. We cherish pieces that remind us of ours and our friend's homes and the lovely things we saw so often. We loved seeing things from different cultures and houses and things from foreign lands and places we wished we could see up close and touch. Beautiful curtains and details gave u …

Did you ever live or work or study outside the USA? If you did, and feel like that place or those places are as much home to you as anywhere in the USA, I'd like to meet you and share stories and experiences. Where you live now doesn't matter, but it's easier if we're able to get together without overnight travel, such as around the Seacoast area of New England or anywhere that the Amtrak Downeaster goes. Some ideas, and I'm open for more, include celebrating the holidays of the places where you …

Do you remember the 'good ol' days' when you sat at home playing Dungeons and Dragons on a Saturday night, because you wanted to? Would you like to swing that trusty (and imaginary!) battle axe again, lopping off a few skeleton heads in the process? Would you proudly embrace being a "dice tosser?!" Would you look forward to long-term, on-going, weekly campaigns played into the wee hours? (and by wee hours, I mean midnight is kind of pushing my limit. I have a full time job you know!)
